Violet Westerlin

August 30, 1921 — January 25, 2016

Violet "Lorene" Eason Houston Westerlin

A remarkable woman, with many life accomplishments left us after 94 years of life. She was a loving Mother, Aunt and Grandmother. Lorene was a woman of simple tastes and pleasures. She faced many challenges in her life, but persevered with resilience and a positive attitude. She remained independent in her home until age 92, a resident in Missouri until moving to Utah in 2014 where she passed away 1/25/2016.

Born to Ernest Eason and Myrtle Beatrice Fish Eason on 8/30/21 in Cedar County, MO. Lorene lived in the El Dorado Springs area early in her life. She was the oldest daughter (nine years old) of the family when her Mother died. She began her caregiver role early after her Mother died and continued for many family members through her life. She had five brothers and sisters from her parents, and when her Father married Ella (Ellie) Payne Hess the blended family consisted of eleven children. Her smile and joy was greatest when family was around. Lorene was a hard worker with a strong work ethic. She went through life with determination and grit. She was a partner in the Home Decorating Shop in Osceola for many years, an accomplished seamstress, businesswoman, fabulous cook and later an avid bingo player.

She married George L Smith in 1938 and later divorced. She married Ora Houston in 1940, they were married for 33 years until his death in 1973. She married Frank Westerlin in 1974 for 10 years until his death in 1984.

Lorene is survived by her only son, George (Donna) Houston of Osceola, brother Forrest Caldwell of Oklahoma, sister Catherine Holt of Missouri, Granddaughter Cinda of Utah, Grandson Doug (Dianna) Womack of Osceola, many nieces (of special note Rayma, Kathy and Debbie) and nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday March 1st at the Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home in Osceola. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or alz.org.

The family extends their gratitude to the staff of Beehive Home in Spanish Fork Utah and Bonnie, Cami and Doug of ICare Home Health and Hospice for their compassion and care of Lorene.
