Trevor John Van Ginkel - 1977-2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Trevor John Van Ginkel on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at his home in Mapleton, UT, due to heart complications.
Trevor was born on April 25, 1977, in Lodi, California to Robert and Vienna Van Ginkel. Trevor grew up in California with his three siblings, Jason, Tony, and Alisa. Trevor continued to live in and around Sacramento, California, which is where he met the love of his life, Juli Buchanan.
Juli was Trevor’s soulmate and best friend. They instantly hit it off when they met at a singles dance in 1999 and there was no looking back for them. They were married in 2003 and recently celebrated 21 years of marriage. More than half their lives were dedicated to one another and that was evident in the love they showed each other. This love only grew more intense as they took on their greatest challenge and most rewarding endeavor, being parents to Jonathan, Emily, and Allie.
Trevor embraced the role of being a husband and a father and constantly looked for ways to improve their family’s future. That focus led to many sleepless nights and stretched budgets, but, with Juli's help and support, Trevor was able to earn his finance degree all while working the graveyard shift full-time at Raley’s. Trevor was extremely proud of this accomplishment, but mostly because it meant more time with his family. Trevor continued to leverage his degree to improve life for his family when moving to Utah and landed a position with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.
Trevor cherished family time and supporting his kids in every way possible. Trevor never missed a chance to cheer on his kids and was the loudest fan in the stands. There’s nothing like hearing the ear-shattering ‘KA-KAAA’ from Trevor that was meant to represent Maple Mountain’s Eagles mascot at volleyball matches. Trevor beamed as he talked about Jonathan completing his first year of college and how proud he was of Jonathan’s desire to earn his degree. Trevor longed for game nights with the family and any other excuse to be around the people he loved the most.
Trevor’s fun and caring nature extended to anyone who came in contact with him. He always made people feel welcome with his humor and generous smile. His loud, boisterous laugh could brighten a room and he was quick to offer support whenever needed.
Trevor is survived by his loving wife, Juli Van Ginkel, his son, Jonathan, and his daughters, Emily and Allie. He is also survived by his mother, Vienna, and his siblings, Jason, Tony, and Alisa. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Van Ginkel. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering support for his loved ones.
