Terry Gene Michaelis age 74, died peacefully in his home in Salem,Utah the morning of March 28th 2019. He was born in Logan, Utah to Eugene and Helen Michaelis On December 16th, 1944. Terry dedicated his life to the service of God, family, and his fellow man. Shortly after finishing high school, Terry served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Norway. Upon finishing his mission, he enlisted with the U.S. Coastguard and was in active duty for six months in California. He came back to Utah to earn a bachelor's degree in accounting.
With his professional life ahead of him, Terry moved to California and eventually built his private CPA practice. More importantly he met the love of his life, Becky Orba Lamkin. They were married in 1976, and had 12 kids together, and he kept his family engaged in church, school, and service to the community. He served as a member of the Duarte City Council. He loved being in the outdoors, enjoyed taking his family on road trips, beach trips,and backpacking trips. He led many backpacking trips as a father and a dedicated scout leader.
His involvement in church was heavy and he loved his long church calling as ward mission leader. He loved sharing the gospel to all who would listen and has created friends from Norway to the U.S. sharing the Plan of Salvation and Christ's love.
He is survived by his wife Becky, his kids Scott, Rachel, Brett, Rebecca, Evette, Terry Steven, Hannah, Mitchell, Ben, Derek, Chelsey, Morgan, and his grandchildren Sydney & Blake Fakhouri, Julian & Clara Garcia, Zaire Camacho, Rebecca, Jacob, Jordan, Joshua, Chloe, and Charlotte Michaelis. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Cliff, Kip, Kevin and Todd Michaelis, Kimberlee Madison, and Deidre Kay. He is preceded in death by his parents Harry Eugene & Helen Marr Michaelis, and his sister Ann Rapich.
Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2620 W. 6980 N. Honeyville 84314, on April 5th, 2019. The viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. The Funeral service will be from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., with the burial at 12:30 p.m.. The burial will be at the Honeyville City Cemetery. A reception will be held at the church following the burial. All family and friends are welcome to come celebrate Terry's life.
