Sharron Christensen

August 18, 1948 — May 6, 2021

On Thursday May 6, 2021 our beautiful Mom, Grandma and Grandma Great Sharron Lee Nielsen Christensen passed away peacefully at her home in Salem, Utah.

Sharron was born August 18, 1948 to Jack Ray and Lois Marion Nash Nielsen. She was the oldest of 6 children. She grew up in Spanish Fork and graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1966. It was there that she met the love of her life Steven Lynn Christensen. They were married December 9, 1966 in Spanish Fork. They were blessed with four amazing children Cory, Ashley, Shad and Alisha. On June 18, 1983 our family was sealed for Eternity in the Provo Temple. This was such a special day because nothing was more important to Mom than family and being together forever. It became even more important when her sweetheart Steven passed away November 26,1990 at the age of 42 leaving her a widow for 30 years. Mom has longed to be reunited with Dad and we know that he was there to take her home and that now they are together.

Sharron was an excellent homemaker and she loved staying home with her children when they were little. After the passing of Steven she had to go to work to provide for her family. She was employed at Burrelle's Press Clipping Service in Provo for over 20 years. She made many lifelong friends while working there.

Sharron loved to sew and she was very talented at it. When money was tight, Mom put her talents to work by sewing clothing for us children. She also sewed many costumes, nightgowns, and dresses for friends and family. She loved to make blankets for her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. She was also a very good cook, her Grandchildren especially loved when she would make cheesy potatoes and peanut butter bars. Sharron also loved to read. Mom had a green thumb and could grow the most beautiful flower gardens. In the spring and summer she loved to spend time weeding and caring for them. At times when Mom's health would get bad she was not able to do these things, and that was very hard on her. Being the fighter that she was, she would push herself to get stronger so that she would be able to do it. For Christmas in 2019 she was determined to make all 6 of her Great grandchildren a blanket. It was challenging for her, but she got it done and was very proud of herself.

Sharron was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel. She believed in the power of prayer and knew that it got her through several health issues that Doctors said she would most likely not survive. She also loved the Temple and the promise that her family would be Eternal, that was what got her through the last 30 years without her sweetheart.

Family was the most important thing to Mom, She loved being together with her family. She wanted to be involved with everything the Grandkids were doing. She was blessed with 9 Grandkids Weston, Whitney, Braden, Cadry, Sydnie, Tyler, Kiery, Hayden and Teyven. She tried to attend every sporting event, dance recital, motorcycle race, band competition, concert, and rodeo she could. Her presence at her grandchildren's events was well known by all of their friends and teammates. She got to know all of the kids in the community and loved cheering them on. Through her years she gained many "bonus grandchildren''. She would always say kids were great, grandkids are wonderful, but being a Grandma Great is the best. She loved her 8 Great Grandchildren Treyson, Bowdey, Averie, Kydalynn, Nash, Hadlie, Gus, and Marshall.

Mom struggled with health issues for several years but the last 5 months have been the most difficult for her. After spending time in the Skilled nursing facility and the Hospital it became clear to us that Mom just wanted to be home with her family. So on April 6th we brought her home and we have spent the last month together caring for her. It was a special experience for each one of us and even though she was in pain she loved every minute of it. We will always treasure this time we had with her.

Sharron is survived by her four children, Cory (Jaisha), Ashley (Emily), Shad (Jamie), and her only daughter and best friend Alisha. Her 9 Grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Her brothers Barry (Vickie) Nielsen, Randy (Kathi) Nielsen, and Leslie Nielsen. Her father in law Junior Underwood, and a large extended family of Brother and Sister in laws, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Sweetheart Steven, Her parents, her brother Kevin Nielsen, her sister Juliette, niece Kiera Nielsen and nephew Craig Nielsen. Her Mother in law Joyce Underwood. Father and Mother in law Eldon and Anita Christensen. Her sister in law Malinda Underwood Wing.
