Our loving mother and grandmother was reunited with her eternal sweetheart, Kenneth Doyle Smith, on Tuesday April 28th, 2015. Sharon Dibble Smith was born to the late Eldon Norris and Dorothy Slater Dibble on November 10, 1943 in Mapleton, Utah. While Sharon was in her early teenage years, her mother remarried Shirlen G. Nott, and the family moved to Bountiful, where Sharon attended Bountiful High School.
Mom's greatest joy came from being a wife, mother, and especially a grandmother and great grandmother. She made each grandchild feel as if they were the "favorite." Mom was happiest when she was on the floor playing blocks, trucks, dolls, or attending their many sporting events. Mom was an avid runner, and ran many races, including 15 marathons. Her enjoyment of running came from the wonderful conversations and deep friendships built along the way.
Sharon loved working at BYU in the School of Accountancy, where she was the Budget Director. She thought the department could not run without her.
Sharon made service a lifelong commitment, and she taught her family how to serve through her example. Sharon served in many capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, including many ward and stake callings. She especially loved serving the sisters in various Relief Society positions.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Neal Brent Montgomery; four daughters: Robyn (Morgan) Roberts, Spanish Fork; Alyson (Shawn) Kelly, Midway; Stefany (Todd) Crook, Colorado; Trinka (Bryan) Whatley, Germany; one son: Wylder (Kimba) Smith, Heber; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Sharon is also survived by a sister, Linda (Daniel) Covington, and a brother, Kevin (Gretchen) Nott. She is preceded in death by her eternal companion, Kenneth D. Smith, along with her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 4, at 11:00 a.m. in the Cobblestone Ward Building, 1661 East, 980 South, Heber City, Utah. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., and prior to the service from 9:00 - 10:45 a.m. in the same location. Interment will be in the Heber City Cemetery.
