Robert D. Ford passed through the veil on Sunday, May 6, 2018. He was born, March 29, 1933, to Emmett and Lois Ford, of Springville Utah.
Bob attended Grant Elementary School of Springville, Utah and Dixon Middle School, and Provo High School both of Provo, Utah. He enlisted in the United States Navy following high school and served during the Korean War for 4 years. He worked for his father and various other construction companies after serving his country. He worked a good portion of his life as a heavy equipment operator in construction with Utah County, and retired in the mid 1990's.
Bob married Verena Blood Carter. Together they had three children; Bret Emmett, Kade Robert, Kristi Lynn Ford. He later married Mary Ann in 1988, and has worked with her in running Oak Hills Stables since.
Following his retirement from Utah County, he was a temple worker in the Provo Temple. In addition to his family, he also was a father and grandfather figure to many who frequented Oak Hills Stables. Bob was known as a faithful home teacher with his companion Bub Riding. Bob was also known as a very good friend to many.
Never one to brag, according to Bob, he loved cutting, and had a few good cutting horses. But Bob was a skilled rider, and won several competitions. Bob and his father were involved extensively with cutting and all that this entailed. Years after his competitive cutting days Bob continued to enjoy the sport and skill.
Bob loved riding horses and eventually a four wheeler around the Oak Hills property as much as he loved his daily diet Pepsi at Fast Gas with his friends. He could be found doing either on most days.
But Bob mostly loved his family and friends. And though life was not always positive and kind to him, he always was to those around him. He was known to have a friendly word at the ready for those he didn't know well. But he was consistently and obviously happy to see those he loved. When asked, "How are you doing?" he was often heard saying "Never had it so good".
Bob is preceded in death by both his parents, and his grandson, Cody. He is survived by his wife of 30 years MaryAnn, four children: Bret Emmett & (Anna), Kade Robert, Kristi Lynn (Russell) Cummings, Carl (Mary) James, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Randall (Charlene) Ford.
A graveside service will be held in honor of Bob's life on May 14, 2018 at noon at the Salem City Cemetery in Salem, Utah.
