Norman, 89, of Provo, Utah passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on October 19, 2018. He was born in Price, Utah on July 23, 1929 to Joseph and Nona Aplanalp. Norm married Bonnie Rae Ames on November 19, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple.



As a young man, he served his country in the Air Force. Norm loved baseball, and he participated as a player and as a coach in many leagues over the years.



His church callings were many, he was in the Elders Quorum, Assistant Ward Clerk, Sunday School Teacher, 1st Counselor in home ward Bishopric, a Home Teacher (never missing a month), Counselor in Bishopric of a BYU singles ward, as well as a temple worker.



Norm was a natural salesman. He could make a friend in minutes; everyone who knew him loved him. As a professional insurance representative, Aetna Insurance Co. moved him to their headquarters in Hartford, CT to train the marketing department. Motivational speaking became a passion of his. Retiring from the insurance business lead him to spend time in the petroleum industry. Later in life, Norm relished serving and pleasing his customers at Jos. A Bank, for he was well known as the best dressed man in town!



He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife, Bonnie Aplanalp; their children Kris (Jim) Robinson, Lisa (Jon) Beck, Tracy (Bruce) Beckstrom, Alison (Chris) Hammond; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Norm was preceded in death by his parents and brother Arden J. Aplanalp.



A viewing will be held Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the Edgemont 6th Ward Chapel. 4056 North Timpview Drive (650 East) from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11:00am in the Edgemont 6th Ward Chapel with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:45am. Interment directly following will be held at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery, Springville, Utah.
