Nirma Reyes

April 22, 1947 — May 28, 2014

In loving memory of Nirma Reyes, our loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Nirma was born to loving parents Manuel and Elvira Benitez in Guatemala City, Guatemala Central America on April 22, 1947. Nirma was the oldest of seven children and two half-siblings as well. Nirma was born a natural nurturer. She was an excellent example to her siblings and all those who met her. Nirma met the Love of her life, Gustavo, in Guatemala City at the age of seventeen. One year later they were married and started a family. In January of 1966 they welcomed their first daughter Elvy, two years later they were blessed with a second daughter, Roxana. Several years later they took their family to be sealed for time and all eternity in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple. They lived in Guatemala and Mexico for several years until they settled in Provo, Utah in 1975.

Nirma was an excellent cook who could make the greatest meals out of scratch. This is one of the many attributes we loved about our mother. Her good home cooking! Nirma was also an excellent seamstress and sewed blessing gowns for her granddaughters, which will be cherished forever.

Our mom held many callings in the LDS church as Primary President, Relief Society President, Nursery worker and many others. Nirma was an excellent Genealogist and traveled to many different cities in Guatemala gathering information.

In 1982, after fourteen years Nirma and Gustavo were surprised to find out they were expecting yet another daughter, Itzel. This completed their family.

Nirma was so proud of her children and what they had become. She was an excellent example of what a mother should be. She was selfless and had a very loving and giving heart. She always wanted to help anyone in need with out any expectation of recognition.

Our mom will forever live in our hearts and we know we will see her again. We love you sweet Madre.

God be with you until we meet again.

Nirma is survived by her husband Gustavo of 49 years, her daughters Elvy (John)Parkinson of American Fork, Roxana (Richard)Laubershimer of Lehi, Itzel (Jeff) Day of Payson, grandchildren Victor, Cassandra, Ricky Blandon, Joshua Parkinson, Tiffani and Brittani Redford, Megan Laubershimer, and Kamryn and Makinlee Day. Two Brothers, Carlos Benitez(Las Vegas, Nevada), Manuel Benitez(Quebec, Canada), one sister Silvia Perez(Guatemala) and one half-brother Walter Benitez(Guatemala).

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Maria and Emi, a brother Juan, and one half-sister Martita.

The Reyes Family would like to express their gratitude to the Doctors and Nurses in the ICU at Mountain View Hospital. Our Wife and mother received exceptional care in her final hours and for that we are forever grateful.

A Graveside service will take place on Monday June 2, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Payson City Cemetery under the direction of Legacy Mortuary.
