Neil Richard Daybell, 62, of Provo, Utah, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025.
He was born on February 26, 1962, at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, UT, to Richard and Leila Daybell. Neil proudly served in the United States Navy, where he worked aboard an ammunition ship, traveling to places such as Acapulco, Hawaii, Guam, the Philippines, and several other Asian islands. He was honorably discharged in 1984 and returned to his hometown of Provo, where he began a career at the local Reams grocery store. It was there that he met his first wife, Valorie Snell. They were married on August 29, 1993, and together shared many years of love and friendship.
Neil later transitioned to a new career at Utah State Hospital as a medical technician, where he worked for several years until a work-related injury led to an early retirement. While his marriage to Valorie eventually ended in divorce, they remained close friends until her passing.In 2007, Neil met Jennifer Anne Johnson, and they married on April 14 of that year. Together, they welcomed a daughter in February 2013, whom they lovingly placed for adoption due to health challenges. While Neil and Jennifer later separated, they remained friends until Jennifer’s passing in October 2024.
Throughout his life, Neil faced many challenges, including a long battle with diabetes. He met this struggle with courage and resilience, always maintaining a positive attitude despite the hardships.Neil was known for his incredible sense of humor. His love for a good joke and his infectious laughter made him the life of any room he entered. He had an extraordinary ability to make friends wherever he went, and his humor played a huge role in forming the deep connections he shared with those around him. His light-hearted nature and ability to bring joy to others will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.Neil will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and quiet strength. He had a unique ability to make others feel valued, and his friends and family cherished him deeply. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Neil is survived by his daughter, Natalie Brynn; his stepmother, Joyce Daybell, his sisters, Diane Daybell Clough, Julie Daybell, and Shellie Daybell; his brother, Steven Daybell; nieces, Danielle Eyre Jarvis, Stephanie Clough Steinke, and Chelsie Kay Lund; nephew, Schyler Daybell; one great-niece; and three great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Lavar Daybell and Leila Olsen Daybell, and his former wives, Valorie Snell Daybell and Jennifer Johnson Daybell.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM at The Benson Building, 275 S 1400 E, Spanish Fork, UT 84660 (entrance on the east side).In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Neil’s memory.
