FORE!
Michael Lloyd Black, our Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Friend and Golf Buddy peacefully passed away on October 1, 2015. He was born in Salt Lake City on August 19, 1942 to Vern and Mary Black. He spent a happy childhood running around the Avenues and attending East High School. Although he graduated from the University of Utah he was a lifelong BYU fan. He taught special needs children for over thirty years at Hartvigsen School. He dedicated countless hours to coaching special olympians and coached athletes at four Special Olympics World Games. He was named Special Olympic Coach of the Year. In 2002 Mike was inducted into the Special Olympics Utah Hall of Fame. His passion and caring for those with special needs helped change the world. Mike never met a golf course he didn't like and golfed throughout his life. His happiest moments were spent golfing with his family and long time friends. He loved his children and especially enjoyed being around his grandchildren.
Dad is now golfing where, FINALLY, his drives will be long and his putts won't be short!
Mike is survived by his four children Todd Black, Angie (Carson) Pearson, Tyler (Lindsay) Black, and Jeremy Black. Grandchildren; Dakoda and Teegan Black, Elder McCade Pearson (Ohio), Chandlie, Easton, McKenna, and Halle Pearson, Nixon, Beckham, and Griffin Black. Brothers Vern (Judy) Black, and Stephen (Muerial) Black and Sister in Law Trina Black.
Preceded in death by his parents Vern and Mary Black, and brother Dan Black. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to Special Olympics Utah
