Mary Palmer

May 23, 1927 — March 31, 2019

Mary Rita was born on May 23, 1927 in Tell City, IN to Charles and Ellenora Bezy. She was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus and her eternal home on March 31, 2019.

Rita married the love of her life, Stuart Whitney Palmer on February 17, 1946 in Kentucky. Rita and Stuart moved to California where they bought their first home, and welcomed their daughter, Shirley and son, Bruce. Their little family grew to include any kitten or cat that Rita found and brought home or that showed up on their doorstep.

Rita loved keeping her home and family well cared for. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her children, crafting with paint, rug hooking, and embroidery. She was famous for her pot roast, orange cookies, and the family potluck favorite; deviled eggs. Rita LOVED Christmas!! She would pack away all of the daily house decor and replace it all with Christmas decor and decorations. She made tabletop "ice rinks" out of mirrors and beautifully decorated the tallest, fullest Christmas tree Stuart could get in to the house. Her love of Christmas and its traditions continue through her family.

Rita's greatest love by far was her relationship with her Savior. She was a very active and involved member of Sylmar Free Methodist Church where she could be found organizing or supporting prayer chains, Women's fellowship, and attending Women's retreat. There are many, many precious memories of laughter, fun, and fellowship at Oak Glen Women's retreat. Rita took every opportunity to encourage others in seeking the salvation and love offered through Christ. Her devotion and example of faith planted the seeds that would later lead her family to know this salvation and love as well. We will be forever grateful for this gift.

Rita's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Seasons of Santaquin staff for their exceptional care every day. Her final years were filled with the love of many "great granddaughters", and a lot of spoiling from Richard. During the last 5 months of her life, she was lovingly attended to by her hospice nurse, Staci. Her final moments in this world were filled with hugs and words of comfort from the most precious of her Season's great granddaughters.

Rita is survived by her Daughter Shirley and Son in law Patrick, Granddaughter Lisa and grandson in law Adam, Grandson Christopher and Granddaughter in law Mandy, and great grandchildren Jesse (Haley), Jake, Roman, Maxim, Finley, and Milo. Rita was proceeded in death by Stuart and Bruce.
