Mary Noyes

December 1, 1944 — March 19, 2021

Mary Margaret Paxton Noyes of Orem Utah, passed away peacefully in her home at 76, with the love of her life, Ron, right by her side after years long affliction with Alzheimers.

Mary was born on December 1, 1944 to Margaret Mary and Kenneth Bryant Paxton in Los Angels, California. She had one brother Frank Brill who was 19 years her elder. (We always referred to him as "Uncle Brother" I had to dig deep in my memories to recall his real name as I was writing this!)

She overcame much in her young life including Rheumatic Fever where she was bedridden for months. Her strong spirit and determination was evident especially during this time. She was a voracious reader and read everything she could get her hands on. She kept up her schooling while bedridden and this fast tracked her education. She completed HS early and jumped right into college at UCLA and Pepperdine.

She had a good balance in life and loved the beach and spent her free time surfing and sunning. One of the most intriguing things about this time in her life was, she worked for The Jet Propulsion lab (later became part of NASA) on Top Secret information (We still have no idea what she did!) And even had her own security detail! She had a brilliant mind and beautiful soul.

She moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1965 to live with her aunt Bonnie and later moved in with friends. Then, she met Ron Noyes. (She told me she had never met anyone like him and she fell for him almost immediately). He was a farm boy from a small town in southern Utah, she was a California girl. She, with her fiery red hair and fierce drive to succeed and he, with his quiet strength and calm spirit. They seemed an unlikely pair but they balanced each other well. After their whirlwind courtship, they were married in the Salt Lake temple on November 11 1966 "Armistice Day". This day was chosen because it is the day of Peace and he brought peace to her life and to her soul.

They settled in Salt Lake city where they had their first 4 children then moved to Orem where the last 2 children arrived to complete their family. She settled into her Mother role and together, they did the work of raising a family and creating a loving environment for their children to grow.

Mary continued to develop herself by returning to college and received her nursing degree. She worked for IHC for 30+ years working in several different departments over the years. True to her nature, she lovingly cared for those who were suffering. Again her ability to balance life served her as she cared for her patients with her amazing skills and loving heart while simultaneously managed a house full of teenagers.

Her most treasured title was that of Mom and Grandma. She loves her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with her whole being. She made the everyday extraordinary by having craft projects, cookies, cake making and decorating supplies, at the ready. She made family reunions extra special by having fun games for the kids and she could throw a prince/princess party that actual royalty would be impressed by.

She loved to sing, write poetry, sew, and paint. She made a lovely home and was a wonderful friend to so many. She was a creator in every sense of the word. She will be so missed but we are rejoicing at the celebration she is having with our family members in heaven.

She is survived by her dear husband, Ron, Her children Dan and Kristy Noyes, Bryan and Sonja (almost) Noyes, Anisa and Mike Scalora, and her honorary family, Stephanie and Craig Larabee and Sandie Waters. Her grand children, Andrew, Carley, Clint and Chantelle, Cody and Davi, Bailey and Charlie, Morgan, Kylie and Joe, Chandler, Jordan, Jacob, Alexis and Nathan, Chanelle and Aaron, Sariah and Paige, Quinn, Olivia, Callum, Paige, Emma, Tim, Jacksin and Lilee. Her great grandchildren, Calvin, Oliver, August, Gabe, Hyrum, Elizabeth, Gwyn, Gideon, Piper, Cleo, Brisbane, Aurelius and Jake as well as many nieces and nephews that she loves like "grands".

She is having her heavenly reunion with her dad, mom, daughter Becky, son Paul, two grandchildren, her beloved grandma Paxton, her brother Frank, and we imagine there are many, many family members and friends there for her "Welcome Home" party.

We are eternally grateful to Maple Creek Hospice for the love, care and support these past nine months. They truly are angels on earth and we hold them in our highest esteem.
