Marcelino Sanchez Almaraz

April 26, 1938 - September 19, 2021

Marcelino Sanchez Almaraz died peacefully on September 19, 2021, in the company of his beloved wife Adelina and his four living children and grandchildren. He was 83 at the time of his death in his Woodland Hills home. He is survived by his wife Adelina Perez Sanchez and his four children, Susy, Carmina, Marcelino, Mahonry, by his 21 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Two of his sons, Helaman and Ricardo, are deceased.

Marcelino was born near San Marcos Hidalgo on April 26, 1938 to Froylan and Emilia Sanchez. As a young boy and teenager, despite his humble and limited upbringing, he demonstrated and developed character traits of hard work, faith, honesty and an attitude of accomplishment.

After studying four years of high school and having learned to speak English in Juarez Academy, in the state of Chihuahua, he returned to Mexico city where he met and married his beloved wife. They were sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple.

He achieved his dream to become an entrepreneur at 33. While running his business, and supporting a growing family, he graduated with a degree in International Marketing from the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico. The desire to move his family to the United States, to offer his children and future posterity a brighter future, moved him to sell his business in Mexico and undertake new experiences and challenges. He and his brother started Tio's, a well known Mexican restaurant in Murray Utah.

In 2008, after his retirement, he and his wife moved back to Tula, Mexico to begin another chapter of his life. Devoting themselves full time to helping others. For eleven years, he served in the church, his family, and neighbors during his time in Tula. He was always eager to share his means to provide help to others in need. He helped many start their own business ventures, he visited the afflicted and the poor, and he and his wife opened their home to anyone in need. Many, even hundreds were recipients of his love, encouragement, faith and testimony. For a more detailed video timeline of his life see video.

Marcelino was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all his life. He served in many capacities including Branch President, Bishop, and District President, but the most important calling for him was that of a husband and father. He often brought flowers for his wife Adelina and expressed how beautiful she was. He loved working with his children, whom he taught the value of hard work.
