Leon fought a great fight but succumbed to dementia on May 14, 2018 peacefully in his home surrounded by family. He was born to Lawrence James and Maurean Torgerson Christensen on June 22, 1947 in Provo, Utah. Leon graduated from Provo High School and was drafted into the United States Army. He was honorably discharged after serving his country.
Leon married Mickelyn Asay on September 13, 1969 in Provo, Utah and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS temple on July 13, 1977. He worked for Provo City for 30 years and retired from the Streets Division as the paint and sign shop supervisor.
He is the proud father of four boys and one daughter who provided him much happiness, but most of all, provided him the joys of his life in the 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren he loved so much.
He is survived by his beautiful bride, Mickelyn Asay Christensen; Daughter, Cami Christensen Bird (Stewart); his sons, Brian L Christensen (Shauna); Kevin Christensen; Eric Christensen (Amy) and Daniel Christensen; and his three brothers, Lynn Christensen (Judy), Calvin Christensen (Shaunna), and Gary Christensen (Shirlee). He was preceded in death by his parents and his great grandson, Chanse.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m., Friday, May 18, 2018 at Pheasant Valley LDS Chapel at 1157 West 900 South, Springville, Utah. A viewing will precede the funeral from 9:00a.m. - 11:00a.m. Burial will be in Provo City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Hearts For Hospice and the wonderful care that was provided by Roy and all the sweet caretakers that helped Leon stay comfortable in his last days.
