Lawrence Stika

April 13, 1931 — February 10, 2015

Lawrence Jay Stika, age 83, peacefully left this life on February 10, 2015.



Larry was born on April 14, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Valaria May Van Ausdal and Otto Albert Stika. He was raised by his mother and stepfather Warren Ellis Mecham.



He graduated from Spanish Fork High in 1949. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950. He attended submarine and electronics school in Treasure Island, California. He then served as a radar technician aboard the USS Queenfish, during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1953.



He worked in the electronics field for many years specializing in communications and aerospace for many different companies including Philco, Sylvania and NASA. He later moved to Utah to drive truck. He drove for 17 years for Clark Engineering, D & L Supply and Savage Brothers. He retired in 1995.



He married Donna Perkins and adopted her 2 boys Kenneth and Michael. They were later divorced. He married Shari Lee Howe on August 16, 1977.



He is survived by three children: Jodi Sue Jeffrey, Jason Stika (Stephanie), Mike Stika (Becky), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.



Larry had an incredible sense of humor and loved comedy. He loved watching comedy shows and sharing funny jokes and stories with family and friends. He also enjoyed sail boating, flying RC airplanes, and stargazing with his homemade telescope. He loved gardening and adored all animals, especially his Dalmatians.



There will be an informal celebration of his life on Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 1 to 3 pm at the Mapleton North Park (West Pavilion), 1430 West 1600 North, Mapleton. Military Honors will be performed at 1:30 pm.
