Karen Kelly Gossard
Karen was born in Salt Lake City at Holy Cross Hospital on November 28th, 1968. As a child she loved gymnastics, hanging out with her sister Sherry, and her best friend Heidi. She attended Orem High School and became pregnant with her first daughter Brooke before she graduated. She was kicked out of her home at this time but managed to get her own apartment and graduated from Young Mothers High as the valedictorian in 1989. She attended UVU college where she met her future husband. She was sealed to Steven Robert Gossard at the Jordan River Temple on December 18th, 1992, with her daughter Brooke alongside them. She had two more daughters, Nicole and Myrissa.
Karen loved being a mother. She was incredibly proud of her kids and would talk about them any chance she got. She loved taking pictures of everyone and everything. She always sang incredibly off tune at the top of her lungs, even when her family begged her to stop. She loved anything sparkly or colorful. She and her husband Steve loved to explore the outdoors and go fishing. She was always going out of her way to help others or do whatever she could to brighten people’s day. She faced a lot of adversity in her life, but she always pushed forward. This quote was written by Karen in one of her journals:
“I’ve been given a lemon in life, and Darn it! I’m going to make lemonade out of it”
Karen is survived by her husband Steven Robert Gossard, Sister Sherry (Karl) Hilsman, daughters Brooke Gossard, Nicole Gossard, and Myrissa (Dagen) Thomas.
