John Snyder

October 21, 1939 — February 5, 2016

John Melroy Snyder passed away on February 5th, 2016, with his wife, Joyce, by his side. He had a long, hard struggle with kidney cancer, but it now at peace. We truly believe he is now in a better place with his loved ones. We thought he would hang around the see his team, the Denver Broncos, win the Super Bowl, although he probably knows they won.

He was born on Oct 21, 1939, in Redfield, South Dakota to Fred J. Snyder and Ethel May Rumrill. The family moved to Grand Junction, Colorado in 1949, where John graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1957. He joined the Navy in 1958, and was honorable discharged in 1962. He started working in the electrical wholesale business with Livran Electric. When they were purchased by Consolidated Electrical Wholesale Supply (CED), he continued working for them and became manager of the Fort Collins, Colorado Store, until his retirement in 2004. He continued working at CED in Orem, Utah, as a part-time employee until 2006.

He married Joyce Carpenter in Grand Junction, CO on June 18, 1967, where they lived before moving to Fort Collins and then on to Spanish Fork, Utah. They would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in June 2016. He was baptized into the LDS Church on October 30, 1984. He was sealed to his eternal companion in the Salt Lake City Temple on October 11, 1985. He held the office of High Priest.

He is survived by his wife Joyce; Sons: Rick (Tobi), Darryl (Christine), Troy (Charisa). Grandchildren: Dan (Beth), Stephen, Thomas, Logan, Lucas, Nathan and Myrphie. Great-granddaughter: Kate. Nieces: Karla Kohnen, Janis (Larry) Woodley, Jill McLamore and Heather (Kirt) Harris. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jeannine Kohnen.
