Jennalee Swapp

October 4, 1933 — September 1, 2024

Jennalee Swapp was joyfully welcomed to this earth on October 4, 1933, the youngest of eleven children of Allen Parcell and Florence (Varley) Duke. After 90 years, she peacefully returned home on September 1, 2024.

Jennalee grew up in Provo, beloved by her dad and siblings, but shared an especially close relationship with her mom, who she spoke about her entire life. As a child, Jennalee loved playing with her dolls and a little metal stove which she threw on the metal pile for making weapons during WWII. She had several older brothers who served in that war and they all came home uninjured. Jennalee believed this was because of the prayers of their family. Jennalee lost her mom at a young age, but after high school graduation at Provo High, she found the love of her life, Reid Spencer Swapp. They were married in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 13, 1952, and they were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on June 23, 1962.

Jennalee was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She helped support her family throughout the years holding many jobs, working at ZCMI, Maceys, BYU and she especially excelled at selling Home Interior and Gifts, Inc products. She could make any home beautiful. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic and love for her family. She spoiled her family on every holiday with her all-out decorating and festivities, creating lasting memories and traditions. She was a fantastic cook and homemaker and what she loved most was getting her family together. Jennalee was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many capacities including Relief Society President & Primary President and served in countless other ways. She especially loved serving in the Primary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her siblings, and her great grandson Lucas. She is survived by her children Debra (John) Tippetts, Dirk Swapp, Jody (Shara) Swapp, and Michael (Megan) Swapp and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was adored and loved by all. A funeral will be held at the West Mountain 2nd Ward (902 W 400 N, Payson) at 10am on Monday, September 9, 2024 followed by interment at the Provo City Cemetery.

Jennalee suffered from advanced dementia in her later years and spent the last two being cared for by the Provo Rehabilitation and Nursing home in their memory care center. The family extends their thanks to the nurses and staff.
