James Miller

July 4, 1947 — June 15, 2013

James Howard Miller - known by many as 'Gentleman Jim' was born on the Fourth of July, 1947 in Salt Lake City. Jim left this world on June 15, 2013 to reunite with much loved family members on the other side. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Miller, William and Patricia Johnson. Jim is survived by three brothers - John, David, and Mick whom he loved deeply, in addition to his son Jason, and his beloved wife Lorraine, and her children who he loved as his own - Levi, Isaac, Alisha, Abram, Fidel and Chachie Archutleta.

Gentleman Jim was well known within the local AA community, and was admired for his guidance, his experience, and mostly for his unique point of view. Jim loved his AA Family and spending time with them at Fellowship Hall was the highlight of his days for so many years.

Jim also served in the United State Navy from 1965 through 1970. His love for the sea, and his country made joining the Navy an easy decision at a young age. He began writing in his forties, and penned a poem called Pacific Magic. The final verses read:

"Of all God's creations, she is his finest flower

And I will always love her, for her calmness, and her power.

I will never leave her, put her magic in my past,

For I was born a Sailor, and I'll stay one till the last."
