James Johnston

December 4, 1966 — October 21, 2014

James Robert Johnston II, lovingly known to his family and friends as J.R., suddenly passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from a pulmonary embolism at the age of 47. He was a California native who currently resided in Pleasant Grove, Utah.



J.R. was born on December 4, 1966 in San Gabriel, California, son of the late James Robert Johnston and the late Kathryn Ann (Frankowski) and Bill Priest. He was primarily raised in Upland, California with an early education starting in Pomona. In 1985, he then graduated from Upland High School and pursued his career & his family life. Furthermore, he was affiliated with the following organizations throughout his life:



NBFAA "National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association"



CESA "California Employee School Association"



AMA "Azusa Management Association"



CAA "California Alarm Association"



IBEW "International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers"



A few traits and habits J.R. will be thoughtfully remembered for are his quick wit and humor, ability to repair anything, his big heart and generous, giving spirit.



He leaves his children: James Robert Johnston III, Zurina Leslie (Jeffrey) Johnston all of Alta Loma, CA, Kathryn Ann Elizabeth Stapel of Norco, CA and Lauren Wall-Besen of Diamond Bar, CA. He also leaves behind his paternal grandmother, Gladys (Fluharty) Groter of Missouri, his siblings; Kimberly Ann (Bob) Reichmann of Alta Loma, CA; Michelle Marie (Mike) Hartzell of American Fork, UT; Renee Laura (Richard) Herrick of Upland, CA and Jenniffer Leigh Burgi of Rancho Cucamonga, CA as well as 4 stepsisters, 1 stepbrother, 8 nieces, 7 nephews and 2 ex-wives. He is also lovingly remembered by many aunts, uncles and cousins.



Funeral arrangements are being handled by Legacy Funerals and Cremations in Spanish Fork, Utah. The services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 10:00 am in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1120 North 150 West, American Fork, Utah. Interment will follow at the American Fork Cemetery.
