Genevieve Gardner

November 3, 1915 — March 8, 2014

Genevieve Myrle Sylvester Gardner left this earthly existence on March 8, 2014 to join her eternal companion, Blythe M. Gardner, who preceded her in death in 2007. She was born in Elsinore, Utah, on November 3, 1915, to Zionetta Smith and William Sylvester. Genevieve is survived by three daughters, Julie (Al Welch), Joyce Gardner and Marianne (Kendall Sorensen), 4 grandsons, Dwain B. Klein, Derren A. Klein, J. Justin Crabtree and Nathan Sorensen, 2 granddaughters, Ashley Snyder and Hailey Sorensen, and son-in-law, Dave Caudill, as well as several great-grandchilden, many nieces and nephews and 400 missionary "sons and daughters." She was recently predeceased by her daughter Gloria.



Genevieve was the last survivor of her family of five siblings. She was dearly loved by her family and extended group of friends, having lived in Richfield, Utah until she moved to Bountiful, Utah in 2003. She was always active in the LDS Church, having served in many ward and stake callings. She served two LDS missions with her husband, the first while Blythe was President of the South German Mission and later as his companion at the Mormon Battalion Center in San Diego, California. They also served many years together in the Provo and Manti Temples.



Genevieve was the last surviving charter member of the Richfield Culture Club where she served in many different capacities. She will be lovingly remembered for her keen sense of humor, her very talented sewing and her wonderful cooking, particularly her sugar cookies and toffee. Her collection of recipes and recipe books is legendary. She loved giving dinner parties, having friends in and entertaining many of the General Authorities over the years.



The family wishes to especially thank Suzie Motuliki for her compassionate and loving care of Mom the past 9 years and Vasiti Tuimola for her 5 years, along with others such as Dr. Netta Hendler, who have generously provided assistance during Mom's struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Special thanks to the staff at Genteva Hospice, in particular Mindi Green, Chris Richins and Dr. Justin Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Oak Hills Ward, 455 South 1200 East, Bountiful, Utah, with a viewing preceding the funeral from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m.
