Filbert Valdez

February 24, 1950 — November 18, 2020

Ben Valdez passed away November 18, 2020 in Provo, Utah. He was born the youngest of 11 children in Price, Utah on February 24, 1950 to Simon Joe Valdez and Mary Elvira Valdez. He grew up in Lehi and graduated from Lehi High School in 1969. He married, divorced and went on to raise three children; Tammy Haun (Preston), Anne Valdez, and Adam Valdez.

Ben was employed with Geneva Steel and retired from UDOT in 2012. He adored his big family and many friends, and wouldn't hesitate to do anything for them. Ben never met a stranger wherever he went with an infectious smile filled with his personality and contagious humor, as he was very young at heart. He was compassionate, generous and thoughtful. He was extremely passionate about vintage cars as he spent much of his free time traveling to car shows and collecting a few of his own. He also extensively collected many vinyls to fulfill his love for music.

He is survived by his three children, three grandchildren Andrew Haun, Brittany Peterson (Tavin), Brooke Haun, one great granddaughter Emery Peterson, sisters Bertha Gordon, Josie Gallegoes, Ruby Yates, Evelyn Findling, brother Sesario Valdez, and girlfriend Lianne Zamora. He was met in Heaven by his parents, grandson Nathan Haun, brothers Fidel Valdez, Isaac Valdez, Dale Valdez, Chris Valdez and sisters Toni Martinez and Carolyn Ortega.

There are no scheduled service arrangements at this time to ensure health and safety, though we wish to celebrate his life in the coming months.
