Erlenne Partridge Obituary (1931 - 2013)

Erlenne Davis Partridge peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at the age of 82. Erlenne was born in Payson, UT, on September 21, 1931 to Maurice and Earl Davis. She was raised in Payson and graduated from Payson High School. She married Donald E. Partridge, her high school sweetheart, on February 9, 1949, in the Salt Lake Temple. Don enlisted in the United States Army where he soon found himself in the Korean War. After military service, they lived a short time in Payson, but soon moved to Spanish Fork where they put down their roots for 57 years. They raised six sons and one daughter. Each of her six sons served honorable LDS missions. Erlenne was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in numerous callings throughout her life. In her later years, she served along the side of her husband on four LDS missions; her favorite being the Nauvoo Restoration Mission. She enjoyed camping, oil painting, gardening, and watching many, many ball games. Mom loved serving the Lord and exemplified this love by not only serving on four missions but serving over 12 years in several LDS Temples. Erlenne is survived by her seven children, Stephen, Kent, Karen, Mark, Brian, Hal, & Guy. Stephen lives in Spanish Fork, Utah, Kent & Denise (Orem, Ut.) Karen and Glade Lewis (Salem, Ut.) Mark ( California) Brian & Elaine (Provo, Ut.), Hal & Norma ( California), Guy & Marianne (West Jordan, Ut.). Mom is also survived by seven brothers and sisters, Lorraine Gee, David Davis, Ross Davis, Deanna Stubbs, Dennis Davis, Jan Jones, & Jay Davis. Erlenne has been blessed with 42 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. Mom was a great cook and made special efforts to have good meals ready when Dad returned from a long day at Geneva Steel. Mom was always up for a good game; she loved to challenge her children and her grandchildren. Her favorite was Yahtzee. She was truly the Yahtzee Queen, playing thousands of Yahtzee games and usually winning. She loved being around her family and friends. For over 50 years, she, and a group of girl friends, would gather each month for what they called "Club". They would play games, eat., and socialize for the evening. When her seven children were older and she had more time, she would enjoy reading a good book. Mom was a great homemaker; she kept an exceptionally clean home despite her active, growing family, and she always made sure the yard was neatly trimmed with loads of flowers. She loved decorating for all of the holidays and never missed giving treats to all of the grandchildren. In her later years, Mom struggled with her health. She was diagnosed with leukemia. Doctors gave her 6 years to live, but she beat the odds and lived 15 yrs. instead. She had brain surgery where a large tumor was removed, and an enlarged spleen that was also surgically removed. (The doctor said it was the largest spleen he had ever seen). In addition, she was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, and Osteoporosis. She remained valiant and courageous through many years of difficulty and suffering. She was truly an angel, and we will all miss her loving hugs and kisses. A viewing will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1006 East 200 South, Spanish Fork, UT. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the same location with a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 am. Interment will be at the Spanish Fork Cemetery. I used to live just down the block when I was younger and enjoyed many days of walking down to her house to play. She never once turned me away and I have always thought of her as an extra grandmother during that time. I'm sorry that I lost touch with her after my family moved out of the neighborhood. I always felt welcomed in her home and loved. She was always willing to be a friend to everyone. Both your mom and dad were the "salt of the earth". They were always there to help whoever needed help. I'm sorry that I didn't get a chance to say these words to you in person, but I hope that this will do. She left you a wonderful legacy to live up to. It's wonderful that we have the gospel to let us know that we will be with our loved ones again in the next life.
