Elaine Walton

July 30, 1950 — January 24, 2016

Elaine Pritchett Walton passed on January 24, 2016 from cancer. Born July 30, 1950 in Dallas, Texas. She was the second of six children born to Pauline and Orville Pritchett. Her family lived in the following places: Valley Stream on Long Island, NY, Kansas City, MO, Jacksonville, FL, Dallas TX and Hurst, TX, where she graduated from L.D. Bell High School. While going to college in Dallas, she met and married Bob (Robert D.) Walton in 1970. They were both new converts to the LDS church, and held many positions in the church for the 30 years they were active. They bought their first home in Farmington, UT, in 1973, as Bob started his own business vending candy and toys. They spent 18 years in Farmington where they raised their children. They moved to Salem, UT in 1991, where they homeschooled their kids for eight years until they were all "launched' into their own families and careers.

Elaine blossomed wherever she was planted, and enjoyed many interests: cooking, sewing, gardening and canning. She had a keen eye for beautiful art and a keen ear for beautiful music, teaching herself to play the piano mostly by ear. Her fondest pastime was architecture, and she spent many happy hours designing dream homes, apartment complexes, granny pads and retirement cottages. She has had an abiding love of Jesus Christ and the Bible, returning to her Christian roots in 2010. She was an anchor of devotion to her husband and family, and passed on a firm belief in God to her 22 grandchildren. She didn't want flowery words spoken at her funeral, hoping her life would be her legacy.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Bob of 45 years, her siblings, Judy Minshew of Houston, TX, Laurie Cruciger of Richardson, TX, John Prithcett (wife Julie) of Dallas, TX and Tom Pritchett (wife Julie) of Granbury, Texas. Children, Travis Walton (wife Amy) of Payson, UT; Mary Tull (husband John) of Vernal, UT; Susan Campbell (husband Sam) of Seneca Falls, NY; Ivory Henstra (husband John) of Springville, UT; and Bill Walton of Salem, UT; 22 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Proceeded in death by a son Dan, and parents.

Graveside services were held on January 26, 2016, in Salem City Cemetery.
