Donna Loveless Bascom

Donna Loveless Bascom passed away on October 20, 2020, two days before her 96th birthday. She was born October 22, 1924 in Provo, Utah, the daughter of Elmer D Loveless and Jennie Ferre.

She graduated from Provo High School where she excelled in school and sports. She was Utah State Champion for marksmanship. During World War II she worked in New Jersey and California to aid the war effort before returning home to attend Brigham Young University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Archeology. While a student at BYU, she met and fell in love with Cleo Edwin Bascom. They were married on November 23, 1949 in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple.

She devoted her life to sustaining her husband, raising their family, and volunteering. Her legacy of genealogy, family history, and temple service will be remembered by her family and those she knew. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings. She and her husband served two missions together (Boston, MA and Church Service - Family History). She loved to sew and had an artistic flair. She painted, decorated wedding cakes, had a bountiful garden (particularly known for her raspberries) and loved to cook and can. Her children have fond memories of the summer of 1968 when they camped in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho so her husband could pursue his prospecting dreams.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her siblings, Dean Loveless and Beverly Bona, and three grandchildren; Jonathan Baer, Douglas Bascom and Scott Hansen Bascom. She is survived by her children; Kathleen Baer, Karren (Dean) Barley, Laura (the late Paul) Bergaust, Linda Bascom, Larry (Debbie) Bascom, Judy (Gary) Black, Steven (Ruth) Bascom, Michael (Susan) Bascom and Kevin (Kathy) Bascom. Her legacy also includes 39 grandchildren and 59 great grandchildren.

She loved her family and enjoyed being with them. One of the highlights of the later part of her life was a large family reunion in Midway, Utah in June of 2018 where nearly all of her posterity were in attendance.

Due to current health department restrictions, funeral and internment services are limited to direct descendants.
