Dewayne Olsen

January 11, 1934 — June 13, 2013

DeWayne L Olsen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away June 13, 2013 with his devoted companion near his side. He was born January 11, 1934 in Howell, Utah to Marceal and Pearl Olsen. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time helping his dad on the farm. He was the first young man in his community to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. He served an LDS mission to Denmark and then later in life served two other missions with his spouse. He studied finance and banking at Brigham Young University where he met Leona Lee Brown. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on November 16, 1967. Following graduation he worked at the University of Utah. His love for farming led him to Idaho where he raised polled Hereford cattle for 12 years and then returned back to Utah. He was a faithful member of the LDS church and loved teaching the gospel. He was in inspiration to all and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving companion of 45 years, Leona , and six children, Shaun (Kelli) Olsen, Shannon (Ken) Pena, Sharlynn (Pascal) Vincent, Tanya (Steve) Yancey, Zane (Leah) Olsen, and Regan Olsen and twenty-four grandchildren; brother, Garald Olsen and sisters, Connie Hertzel, Shona Darter and Zena Olsen.



Funeral Services will be held Wednesday June 19, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at the Payson 1st Ward Chapel, 200 S. 400 E. Payson, Utah. Viewings will be held Tuesday, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Brigham City Cemetery, 300 E. 300 So., 3:30 p.m.
