Dennis Wintch

May 27, 1947 — April 2, 2019

Dennis Dean Wintch, 71, of Elk Ridge, Utah, succumbed to cancer in the comfort of his own home

surrounded by his family on April 2, 2019.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon, daughters Tiffany (Rhett) Riding, Megan (Andy)

Nielson, sons Shane (Jonna) Wintch, Wesley (Natalie) Wintch, Eric (Alissa) Wintch, Scott (Julie) Wintch,

sisters Valerie (Don) Grimmer, Paula (LeRoy) Hughes, Sharon Pollock, and many caring grandchildren,

great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and extended family. Dennis was an adoring husband, loving

father, kind and generous man, and true friend.

Dennis was born in Tropic, Utah to parents Dean and Erma Wintch. He grew up in the heart of southern

Utah and spent his youth hiking, hunting, fishing, and playing sports. He was an exceptional athlete

excelling in basketball, baseball, and track. Dennis truly felt at home in nature and spent many days

hiking the hills around his home and working by his father's side. A true sportsman, Dennis enjoyed

spending time with family and friends fishing and hunting, but mule deer hunting was his real passion.

He was always willing to share his knowledge with anybody and help others succeed in getting that big

muley.

Dennis was a strong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in

the Dakotas teaching the gospel to the native American people. His love for them would last throughout

his life and he could often be found talking about his native American friends and would later serve a

second mission with his wife on the Navajo reservation. Never shy about sharing his faith, he had a way

of taking any conversation and bringing in a gospel perspective.

Dennis married the love of his life, Sharon Peterson, in the Manti, Utah temple and together raised six

children. He worked hard to provide for his family the necessities of life. To him, his greatest

accomplishment is his family. He cherished taking his children and grandchildren fishing, hiking, and

teaching them about the gospel or life lessons, often using object lessons and nature to explain a

principle. His adventurous spirit, generous heart, and wise guidance will truly be missed by all who

knew him.

Memorial services will be on Monday, April 8, 2019 at the Elk Ridge LDS Chapel at 295 E Alpine Dr. in Elk Ridge,

UT. Viewing will begin at 9:00, followed directly by services at 11:00. The burial will follow soon after
