Charles Orvid Vogt

Charles “Chuck” Orvid Vogt of Spanish Fork, Utah, passed away peacefully in his home on March 5th, 2025, at the age of 81. Charles was born in Boise, Idaho, on March 11th, 1943. He was the oldest of five children to Henry “Hank” Louis Vogt and Dorothy Levine Brogdon.

Charles grew up in Boise, Idaho, with his siblings and parents. He often reminisced about hunting Pheasant and Quail throughout the valley and his summers floating the Boise River. Charles graduated from Boise High in 1961.

Charles married his former classmate, Donna Treharne, February 1963 in Boise Idaho. Charles and Donna relocated to Bountiful Utah to raise their two children, who they both adored. Though this relationship wasn’t permanent, Charles and Donna remained friends throughout their lives.

Charles worked for Chrysler Credit in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he met his future spouse, Dawn JoLayne Rodgers. The two married in July 1975, in Coutts, Alberta, Canada. Together, Charles and JoLayne expanded their small family and had 6 children. They lived many years throughout the Salt Lake Valley before settling in Spanish Fork Utah.

Charles worked for 35 years in car sales and finance in both the Salt Lake and Utah Valley. His humor, quick wit and willingness to help those around him led to many long-lasting friendships. He enjoyed boating, hunting, reading and going to his grandkids sporting events. His passion in life was fly fishing. Many of Charles’s days were spent tying his own flies or casting on the river.

Charles is preceded in death by his siblings, Ron, David, Bobby and Barbara. Charles is survived by his wife JoLayne and his 8 children: Brandt, Lisa (Joe), Vanessa (Doug), Jon, Laura (Orlando), Andrew, Christina (Jacob), Kaidan as well as 11 grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held at the Spanish Fork Cemetery March 12, 2025, at 11am.
