Carmen Nelly Segovia Figueroa

Carmen Nelly Segovia Figueroa at the age of 98 passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday July 21st in Spanish Fork, Utah.

Carmen was born February 26th, 1926, in Ancash Peru. She had an older and younger brother and was the only girl in the family. Her greatest joy was her family. She was a mother of 7 Children and had 20 Grand Children with another 36 Great Grand children, and was a Great Great Grandmother.

She was married to Tulio Valdiviezo Martinez, an Airforce Officer, which required a great deal of travel. This became the reason why she was well traveled through the Peruvian States. 

Carmen was an amazing daughter to her parents. She dedicated herself to caring for her parents daily as their health declined right up to their time of passing. 

She was such a great example of the commandment “Honor thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long upon the land” 

Carmen lived a long life of 98 years. When she was in her 90’s, she stated to one of her sons that she wanted to return to her Father in Heaven. Her son replied. “Remember how you honored your Father and Mother? You are going to be with us for a long time.” And so, she was.

Carmen was a living example of true service to her family and those who knew her. Carmen moved from Peru to the city of Angels in California in her late 50’s. After several more years she made her home in the great state of Utah. 

It was always Carmen’s desire to go back to her homeland to live out her last years in Peru. However, her unconditional love for her family overrode her desire to return to her homeland, as she unselfishly wanted to be with her children.

Those who had the opportunity of meeting Carmen would all agree that it was an honor and a privilege to be in her presence and her fun-loving personality will be sorely missed.

The viewing and funeral services will be held on Saturday August 3rd, 2024, at the Maple Mountain Stake Center located at 2188 East 100 South, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660 

The viewing will be from 11:00-11:45 AM and the funeral service will start at 12:00 noon.
