Bernard Ungrodt

June 30, 1934 — November 3, 2016

Bernard "Brud" Ungrodt passed away on November 3, 2016, in Provo, Utah. He was 82 years old. Death was caused by a stroke and other complications.



Brud was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan, in June of 1934. He was the son of Paul and Alyce Ungrodt. Brud graduated from Ypsilanti High School where he participated in many school activities. He was an Eagle Scout.



He attended Albion College and the University of Michigan with a final degree in Mechanical Engineering. He earned his teaching credential in 1972. He married Elissa Aldrich Ungrodt in June of 1961.



After several years in the business world, he chose to go into teaching. He taught for 24 years in the Garden Grove Unified School District in California. He retired in June, 1994.



Brud was very active with the Balboa Ski and Sports Club, the Santa Ana Elks Lodge #794, and 2 RV groups: the Santa Ana Elks Nomads and the Orco Rollers. He held an office in most of these organizations. He was a member of ATO fraternity. He loved all outdoor sports and participated in many.



Brud is survived by his wife of 55 years, a brother, Robert, who resides in Wisconsin, many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Brud was predeceased by his older brother, Paul "Skip" Ungrodt.



A celebration of life is planned for February 12, 2017, at the Santa Ana Elks Lodge, in Santa Ana, California. There will be a service at 11:00 am and lunch at noon. Burial will take place in Washburn, Wisconsin in July, 2017.
