Andrea Eaton

March 5, 1941 — May 20, 2016

Andrea Lenore Jackson Eaton, 75 of Salem, returned to her Father in Heaven May 20, 2016. She passed at Mountain View Hospital in Payson, Utah after a short and unexpected illness.

She was born on March 5, 1941 in San Francisco, California, the daughter of James Clifford Jackson (also known as Thomas Marion Hash) and Eva Lenora Dansie. She was an only child. Her family moved to San Diego when she was young. Her mother passed away when she was 11 years old. She graduated from San Diego High School in 1959. She graduated from beauty school, but she hated doing hair so she gave it up pretty quickly.

Andrea met the love of her life, Joe, on a blind double date. He was the other girls date. She always said, "The moment I saw him I knew I was going to marry him," and she did. She married Joseph Clair Eaton on August 20, 1965. They were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on June 15, 1968. They had many adventures together including eight children. They moved to Salem in 1977. He passed away in 1979 and she never quite recovered. She missed him dearly, staying single until her death, stating, "The first time you marry for love the second time you marry for money and I haven't found anyone rich enough."

Known as Andrea, Mom, & Nana, her sharp wit, quick laughter, soft heart, and generosity will be missed. She was a great animal lover.

Genealogy and helping people discover their family histories has been Andrea's passion since the 1970's. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Preceded in death by her husband and parents, she is survived by her 8 children: Joseph (Tammy) Eaton Jr., Orem; Eva (Donnie) Albert, Talent OR; Anne (Jon) Swapp, Mt. Pleasant; Caroline Cloward, Salem; Erin Eaton, Camas WA; Ruthanne (Johnny) Argyle, Eagle Mountain; Megan (Travis) Sperry, Tooele; and Mary Eaton, Salem. 23 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and her best friend of 47 years Alyn Olson.

A viewing will be held Wednesday May 25th, 6-8 pm and Thursday morning 9:30-10:45 am at the Salem 3rd ward chapel, 695 S. 300 W. Funeral Services will follow Thursday May 26, 2016 at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Herriman City Cemetery.
